A Pioneer in Digital Trade (1985–1990)

Long before the commercial internet took root, Roy was architecting the infrastructure of global commerce. In 1985, he launched Export Network, followed by the strategic privatisation of the Export Intelligence Service (EIS) for the DTI.
In 1989, he unveiled the Freight Forwarders Network—the world’s first Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) for the shipping industry. This landmark service, launched by HRH Princess Anne, transformed the archaic paper trails of global trade into a state-of-the-art digital network, serving giants such as Maersk and LEP, the world's largest freight forwarder at the time.
